Welcome to JamesGarlandSC.com!
This website is my hub to bring to you my thoughts, contemplations, reflections, and yes, even my rants, on everything related to becoming the strongest, and most athletic, version of yourself.
You see, building a strong and athletic body is hard. It also takes an extraordinary amount of commitment. It will also force you to make sacrifices that most people aren’t willing to make, BUT, it doesn’t have to be boring!
In fact it can be quite enjoyable.
The sheer joy of turning yourself into a stronger, and more capable, person is usually joy enough, but I find that if you train in the right way, the training itself can be just as rewarding as the end result.
You see, building strength goes far beyond lifting heavy weights and growing muscle. It’s about having the vitality to live life to the fullest, the confidence to chase your dreams, the health to stave off disease, the freedom to do whatever activities you choose to, and of course, building your own Superhero body.
First, a little about me…
I’m a Sydney-based strength & conditioning coach, as well as the author of this website. I currently work out of Platinum Extreme; a mixed martial arts gym in North Sydney.
Admittenly, I don’t do the whole ‘this is my life’ spiel very well, nor do I believe that I have much worth talking about, so here’s the Cliff’s Notes version:
- I was a skinny kid growing up, and started lifting weights at the age of 15 to put on muscle, and get stronger in general
- I’m actually a degree-qualified Accountant, funnily enough, but it didn’t take long for me to figure out that it wasn’t my calling!
- I’m a HUGE book nerd when it comes to training, nutrition and self-development topics. Seriously, I couldn’t tell you how many books, dvd’s, audio cd’s, and e-products I have on the topic.
- I’ve been lucky enough to intern at Cressey Performance, in Boston, working under world-renowned strength coach, Eric Cressey.
- I absolutely love Rugby League. It’s my first passion – and I’m a Canberra Raiders fan to the core.
- Outside of watching football, I also love playing poker, going to the beach, playing golf and watching great movies
Who Is This Blog For?
It’s for people who want to reach the highest level of physical fitness, while also enjoying themselves along the way. Seriously, what’s the use in building a great body if you never get to enjoy it?
You’ll learn how to train, eat and look after your body so that it continues to serve you well now, and all the way through your later years.
Just A Warning - it’s gonna be real, there will be no nonsense, and I will tell it exactly how I see it, regardless of who it might offend. There is so much B.S. information out there in this industry, and I’m sick of seeing people trying to struggle through all of the lies to get to the good stuff.
So here’s my promise to you – I will always do my best to provide you with fresh, high quality content and will remain dedicated to helping you achieve your goals in any way I can.
And I’ll always try to make this as entertaining as possible.
In return, all I ask from you is that you keep coming back to visit, as well as invite any family, friends, or co-workers who you think will enjoy reading the information on this site to come and visit. Because if there is one thing that I am positively certain of, it’s that a blog without readers can be a seriously lonely place!!
How’s that for win-win?
Now What?
Firstly, thanks for visiting, and making it this far through my life’s story! I feel honoured that people want to hear what I have to say, and I promise to always bring my best to this blog and my other projects.
In terms of the “now what”, I invite you to connect with me via Facebook. I post a lot of cool tips, strategies and stories through my Facebook page that never go up on my blog. You can do that by going to THIS link.
Enjoy your look around the site, and thanks again for taking the time to visit!
